Set up Touch ID in Duo Universal Prompt for Two-Factor Authentication

The Duo Universal prompt allows you to add, delete, or modify your registered devices directly from the Duo prompt. You may also add biometric authentication from the Duo prompt. Please note: adding Apple Touch ID will also enable Face ID if you use Face ID on your mobile device.

To enable Apple Touch ID open the Duo Universal prompt by going to a two-factor authentication (2FA) protected website and follow these steps:

  1. After authenticating using your CNetID or UCMEDID and password, you will be taken to the Duo Universal prompt page.
    Enter Duo 3 digit code
  2. Choose Other Options. It will take you to the list of registered devices and options that you have enrolled in 2FA.
  3. The final option on your list of options is Manage Devices.

To access the Duo manage devices dashboard, you'll need to verify your identity using one of your current 2FA devices.

Once you have authenticated (verified who you are), you'll be taken to your Duo manage devices dashboard, which includes all your currently registered methods of authentication that can be added, modified, or deleted plus the option to Add a device.
  4. Choose Add a device. Then select Touch ID from the options.

Registering Touch ID also registers Face ID if you currently use Face ID on your mobile device. After registering Touch ID, you will be given the option to use Face ID if you log into a site requiring 2FA from your phone.
