UChicago Mailing Lists provide both archives and email quarantine as standard services. This article provides information on the following items:
UChicago mailing lists may have multiple owners but only one owner is designated as the email protection delegate. This delegate is the only person able to manage the list’s Quarantine. The mailing list owner, who is listed first alphabetically by CNetID, is the email protection delegate by default. If you are a list owner and would like to change the delegate for your list, please contact IT Services.
To view the email Quarantine for your mailing list:
Beginning November 2022, mailing lists archives will only be available going back approximately 5 years in the web interface. Older archives will be compressed and hidden from the web interface and available upon request.

To download the archives for a mailing list:
| Closed | No one is able to view the archives for the email list. |

| Restricted to local domain users | Anyone on the local network may view the archives for your mailing list. |
| Listmaster | Only the listmaster can view the archives for your mailing list. |
| By owner | Only the list owners can view the archives for your mailing list. |
| Subscribers only | Subscribers, moderators, and list owners can view the archives for your mailing list. |
| Public | Anyone can view the archives for your mailing list. |
Text archives: This setting cannot be changed.
| Decrypted | Use this setting to decrypt encrypted messages and store them as plain text. |

| Original | Use this setting to leave retain the encryption on encrypted messages in the web archive. |
| At | Replaces @ with at in email addresses. |
| Cookie | Requires a cookie for archive access. Users must submit a small form in order to receive a cookie before browsing the archives. This blocks all robots, including search engines such as Google. |
| Javascript | Obscures email addresses with a javascript link. This option makes the javascript necessary to view the email address. |
| None | No protections against robots in place in the web archive. |
