Report Outdated Content in Google Search


You can report outdated Google search results right from the results page. Follow these steps:

1. Search for a term at google.com. Assuming the result shows outdated content, select on the three dots to the right of the result.

2. A pop-up appears with more options regarding the result. In the pop-up, select Remove result.

3. Another pop-up will appear regarding why you want to remove the result. Select the arrow to the right of "It's outdated".

4. A new browser tab will open to the "Request a refresh of outdated content" web page. A pop-up appears. Leave the first option about "outdated result" selected and select Submit.

5. The pop-up should already have the URL of the outdated content. Select Submit.

6. Google may think the page still exists: it has a cached copy of your current page. To prove the content is stale, you must type in a text string in the Google result that does not appear on your current page. Type the text string exactly as it appears in the Google result. Select Submit request.

7. The "Request a refresh of outdated content" web page appears with a list of your requests. It may be approved right away or remain pending for some time. You can check back later.
