University of Chicago students have access to a 4-year 1Password membership. 1Password is a password manager that securely stores and autofills passwords, passkeys, and sensitive information across all your devices. It keeps data safe with end-to-end encryption while saving you time by letting you log in, pay, and fill forms instantly. Using a password manager is widely recommended as a cybersecurity best practice as it helps you create strong, unique passwords for every account and greatly reduces the risk of your accounts being compromised due to weak or reused passwords.
Please note: This account is not managed or visible to the University – it's your own personal account. You will need to enter your UChicago email to access the free 1Password Individual account, after which you will need to set up your account using a personal email. This free 1Password Individual account is valid for 4 years.
Follow the instructions below to create your membership:
- Visit https://1password.com/promo/ and enter UChicago's unique coupon code (HLMZAY5FG3DZ6) and your uchicago.edu student email address.
- Select Redeem 1Password Account. You’ll see a confirmation message saying “Success! Check your email for the promotion.”
- You should have received an email with the subject: “You’ve been given the gift of 1Password” which includes your promo code and a link to the 1Password redemption website. Once located in your student inbox, select Get Started.
- You’ll be directed to the 1Password Individual account landing page. Follow the prompts to register.
Note: Use your personal email address (not your student email) when creating your new 1Password account – this ensures you keep your membership after graduation.
